Turn your Stamp application to POP-168

Wednesday 10 October 2007 – 2:01

POP-168 is fitted on 24 pin form like BASIC Stamp I/O and Code downloading via RS-232.

A little changed on power input, POP-168 didn’t provide on-board voltage regulator. Only apply +5V.DC on pin21 directly and continue your exist application.

here is example on Parallax’s Professional Development Board (PDB) modification to work with POP-168 here is PDB with old BS2

Let’s changed 1. prepare 2 single row 12 pins IDC female header

2. fit them on POP-168 pins

3. Wire +5V.DC. supply to socket pin 21 on PDB board (see picture)

4. fit POP-168 on BS2 socket, keep pin1 alignment correctly

5. Power the board ON, you must see “Green” LED lighted on POP-168. that’s OK.

6. When to upload code to POP-168, just hold “White” push button on POP-168 and reset the board. the “Blue” LED lighted indicate that POP-168 had entering Bootloader mode already. After uploading code, reset the board again and let POP-168 working.. Enjoy your work..

on Board Of Education (BOE) modification,de-solder old 24 pin socket and replace with round pin socket (maybe two 12 pin single row as picture) Wire +5V.DC. to POP-168. on BOE, wire on capacitors + pole together as picture

Put POP-168 on BOE, check connection is correct then power ON and Green LED appear.

to upload code to POP-168 like above PDB, hold “White” push button on POP-168 and reset the board. the “Blue” LED lighted indicate POP-168 had entering Bootloader mode.

After uploading complete, reset the board again and checkout your code working..
